Our lederhosen are made from particularly high-quality deerskin from New Zealand and Alpine countries.
This is further processed in our tannery in Eferding. The chamois tanning process makes the leather particularly soft, breathable and easy to wash. It also has a temperature-regulating effect, so the Lederhose are in season all year round.
No industrially produced trousers can compete with it: Chamois-tanned suede is considered the finest of all leathers.
The buffalo horn buttons for our pants are made in the Horndrechslerei Kremsmünster, the stag horn buttons come from Styria.

When you wear Lederhose, you also carry a bit of history with you, as they are part of a very long tradition. Even Ötzi wore them, and that was 5300 years ago.
However, the design of the trousers has changed somewhat from the Neolithic Age to the present day. For the better, we think, and who knows: perhaps Ötzi would have been pleased with a pair of straps and an embroidered trouser door.
In the 18th century, the short "Lederne" in the cut we know today was widespread in the rural Alpine region as practical and robust work trousers for men and women.
In the upper classes, the garment finally became socially acceptable for imperial and royal wearers: many Habsburgs and Wittelsbachs liked to dress up in traditional costume, and even Franzl probably brought one or two pieces of game home from the hunt to the imperial kitchen in his Sissi's hand-embroidered Lederhose .
In numerous Austrian and Bavarian traditional costume associations founded in the 19th century, Lederhose were finally declared a cultural asset. Since then, they have been the epitome of a sense of home and down-to-earthness and a must-have item for all seasoned girls and handsome boys.
